Chris Tillman tossed six shutout innings, helping pitch the Tides to a 6-1 win over Charlotte Wednesday.
Tillman (7-5) allowed six hits without walking a batter in the outing as he lowered his ERA on the season to 2.50. The 21-year-old, who is slated to pitch in the MLB Futures Game on Sunday in St. Louis, struck out six to help Norfolk win for the fifth time in the last six games.
Joey Gathright and Jeff Fiorentino each had four hits apiece to power the Tides offense, with Gathright driving in two. Fiorentino has now reached base safely in 25 straight games and is now hitting .330 on the season.
Michael Aubrey went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly, ending his hitting streak at seven games.
The Tides will play their last road game of the first half of the season on Thursday night, with first pitch from Knights Stadium scheduled for 7:15.
